MATT GIOVINE, CPA FOR NYACK SCHOOL BOARD

Strong Schools.
SMART BUDGETS.
TRANSPARENT
Leadership.

I’m Matt Giovine, CPA — a Nyack parent committed to academic excellence, fiscal responsibility, and transparent leadership for the Nyack Union Free School District.

A Message to the Community:

It has truly been a pleasure meeting so many people who care deeply about our school district. For those who don’t know me, you may have noticed that I have a speech impediment, a stutter. I share this to provide some context for my candidacy.

Growing up, the support I received from my schools, my family, and community played a meaningful role in helping me reach my full potential. Through my education, I was given access to speech therapy and guidance that strengthened my communication skills. My teachers, in particular, showed incredible patience and encouragement, and I remain deeply grateful for their dedication. Just as importantly, the community around me never made me feel different because of my stutter—they made me feel supported and included.

With that foundation, I was able to graduate high school near the top of my class, attend Binghamton University’s School of Management as a member of their Scholars Program and begin my career in accounting, eventually becoming a partner at a top-10 accounting firm.

If there is one thing this campaign has reinforced for me, it is the profound impact of a supportive community and incredible teachers, and the importance of thoughtful leaders. It has also strengthened my desire to give back—to help create the same kind of environment that gave me so much as I was growing up.

I look forward to the forum this week and hearing from more of you on your values and concerns. If you have trouble understanding me when I am on the hot mic, please circle back here and I will summarize my responses for you.

With appreciation and respect,

Matt Giovine

Why I’m Running

As both a parent and a CPA, I understand that our schools must deliver strong academic outcomes while managing taxpayer dollars responsibly. I’m running for the Nyack Union Free School District Board of Education to ensure:

  • Students receive a strong education using thoughtful resources
  • Financial decisions are transparent and strategic
  • Families have a real voice in district leadership
It’s about putting our students first through collaborative leadership, financial awareness, and a shared commitment to building strong, well-managed community schools.

My Priorities

📘 Academic Excellence

High standards, strong literacy and math foundations, and clear district goals with measurable results.

💼 Fiscal Responsibility

Transparent budgets, responsible long-term planning, and ensuring taxpayer dollars are directed where they matter most — the classroom.

🛡 Transparent Leadership

A community where parents have measurable input, and decision making is clearly communicated.
